Happy Mother's Day!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

mǔ qīn jié kuài lè

  母  亲  节  快  乐！

On May 14, it was Mother's Day for many countries in 2017. Mandarin class children decided to make a hand craft card for their beloved moms on Friday(May 12). Children took this significant occasion to express their love in Mandarin to their mothers.

Today, during class time, some children from G3 shared their "feedback" from their moms with others.  Below are  a few of them:

Today is International Women's Day. G4 children made some cards to their moms in Mandarin class,  in order to thank moms for taking good care of them all the time. 

Stroytelling time in Mandarin- "猪八戒吃西瓜"

Last Friday, G3 children have listened to a Chinese story which is from a classic master piece"xī yóu jì西游记" in China. The name of this story is "zhū bā jiè chī xī guā猪八戒吃西瓜" ( 猪八戒 ate watermelon), the story is written in Mandarin.

I was surprised that many children have known about some famous characters in this story, such as "sūn wù kõng孙悟空" and "zhū bā jiè猪八戒".

All children have enjoyed the story, and also have asked various questions about it.

A " Sentence Building" activity to develop writing skill in Mandarin FL language

At the start of this unit, Mandarin students have started to learn to build sentences with all the vocabulary learned so far. This activity covers the grade level from Grade 2 to Grade 5,it will go through the steps below:

Step 1: Kids practice to build simple sentence with "one subject +verb+object" in their earliest practice.

Step 2: Kids practice to build sentence with compound subject .

Step 3: Kids practice to build the sentence with two verbs.

Step 4: Kids practice to build simple sentence with adjective and adverb. (The complexity of the use of adjectives and adverbs are based on children's language ability.)

Exploring at my school

This week Grade 2 kids start to learn how to use Mandarin to say some basic buildings or facilities at our school. In order to get the first and visual impressions to our school, Grade 2 kids decided to take an exploring tour at our campus during class time. They chose some places and took some individual master pieces!

In the following classes, they will learn how to say these places in Mandarin!

MY FAMILY TREE

Recently Grade 2 kids are learning 'My family' . We've learnt how to say some basic family members in Mandarin, such as: grandpa, grandma, dad, mom, big brother, big sister, little brother, little sister.

Due to introduce eloquently their families to others, the kids created and made their own 'Family Tree".
